Shayaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, who is better known by his stage name as 21 Savage, is an American rapper who is best known for his triple platinum single called “Bank Account” in 2017. His recent collaboration with Post Malone for the song Rockstar has gone on to peak at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100.
21 Savage was born on October 22, 1992, in Atlanta, Geogia. He has four brothers and six sisters. He had a lot of trouble growing up. When he was only in the seventh grade, he was banned from school because of gun possession. He later went to school in a different area but was soon sent to a youth detention center. He says that growing up he really looked after artists like Gucci Mane and the songs like “East Atlanta 6” and “Sub Valley”.
However, the most tragic time of his life came at his 21st birthday. It was in this day that he was shot six times whilst his best friend was killed. 21 Savage could’ve died that day but thankfully he didn’t. This is also the time that he made it an intention to get serious about a career in hip-hop.
21 Savage released his debut single in 2014, which was called “Picky”. This was produced by DJ Plugg and he would later go on to release his debut mixtape called “The Slaughter Tape” the very next year.
In 2015, he also released a EP called “Free Guwop” along with Sonny Digital which helped him spread the word about the influence of rapper Gucci Mane. In the late stages of the year, he would release a second mixtape called Slughter King which created a lot of buzz about him.
By 2016, he had started to acquire a following with XXL naming him as one of their Freshman Class of 2016. This helped him get a lot of exposure and reach newer audiences.
He went on to release an EP called Savage Mode which went on to reach number 23 on the Billboard Hot 200 charts. This was a turning point in his career that would help him become a major star.
He then went on to have hits like “X” and “Bank Account” that would be massive hits with the latter one getting teiple platinum status. In early 2017, he announced that he had signed with Epic Records. With them, he went on to release his debut album called “Issa Album” that was a very big hit reaching number two on the US Billboard 200 chart.

With the recent success of “Rockstar” along with fellow rapper Post Malone, 21 Savage looks to be busy for the rest of 2018 with a tour around the United States that is to follow after the song reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He has made the majority of his money through going on similar tours for his hit albums that have been a worldwide success.
21 Savage has a dagger tattoo that is right between his eyes. This is probably the thing that catches the eyes of people whenever they see him. He has mentioned that the tattoo originally came from the inspiration of Tony Montana’s blade tattoo in Scarface.
21 Savage is the father to 3 children. Savage had been dating Amber Rose for the most part of 2017 but they later split. Now, news has emerged that he dumped her once he found out that she had cheated on him with one of his close friends.
By Rose’s recent interviews, it’s pretty clear that she realizes her mistake and still wants to be with the rapper. However, being in the situation of Savage, it would be very unlikely for them to get back together.
In 2018, 21 Savage has started spreading a positive message to reduce gun violence. He is the one who started a movement called “Guns Down, Paintballs Up”. Savage has a pretty dark history when it comes to guns but it seems that he wants to do something good now. He even paid for the funeral of a 3 year old who was killed in such an incident.
