Symere Woods, who is better known by his stage name as Lil Uzi Vert, is an American rapper from Philadelphia. He has had a lot of success with his mixtapes “Luv is Rage” and “Lil Uzi Vert vs The World”. He went on to release his debut studio album titling the song as “Luv is Rage 2” which went on to be number on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart.

Early Life

Woods was born on July 31, 1994, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Growing up, Woods was heavily influenced by Marilyn Manson, calling him his greatest inspiration. He first discovered Manson’s music when he was around 13 years old and instantly started following him. He loved some of his works including Paramore and My Chemical Romance.

He also like him more than jst for his music but the type of person that he was. According to Woods, he found Manson very intelligent and taught him that it didn’t matter what others thought about you. Some other rappers mentions to have been idols growing up include Wiz Khalifa, A$AP Rocky, Pharell Williams, and Kanye West.

Career

He started getting into rap from a very young age. He used to make songs and in the process, one day Don Cannon heard one of his songs on the local radio and was impressed. Long story short, he eventually ended up signing a record deal with DJ Drama that started his career.

This would lead to him getting to network with those wanting to do business and managed to be associated with Atlantic Records that helped him to elevate his game. He managed to be featured in the single called “WDYW” along with Rich The Kid in 2015 which helped him start a following of fans.

He released the mixtape called Luv is Rage in late 2015 which became a big hit. He then went on to collaborate with a number of artist with the one with Migos for the single called “Bad and Boujee” being a big hit. He then released the song called “XO TOUR Llif3” from his EP Luv is Rage 1.5 which managed to get into the Billboard Hot 100.

Personal Life

One of the earliest collaborations that Woods did was with Rich The Kid. However, their relationship has gotten sour since then as they went on to diss each other on different social media platforms with Rich The Kid releasing a diss song called “Dead Friends”.

This feud originally started when Woods had shown some unhappiness with his music label called Generation Now. Rich The Kid responded by saying such problems would not have arrived if he’d sign in The Kid’s label. Woods reacted negatively to this and it has resulted in them not being colleagues or making songs together anymore.

Recently, he was even criticized for not appearing at The Festival Santa Teresa in Canada. From his side, he said that there were problems in the immigration border control and that it was simply out of his hands. Fans eagerly waiting for his performance were not impressed and even went on to vandalize the entire stage causing a lot of damages. He has been criticized several times for missing performances.

He once mentioned in an interview that it was very difficult to convince his parents for his dream of becoming a rapper. His family was mad about it but Woods mentioned that though school might be great, it was just too slow for him.
