Born on December 8, 1958 in London, England, Blakey started his career as a producer when he was only 19 years old. He was hired as the resident producer for Hansa Studios in Berlin. The company located in Germany helped him to gain much experience in the business. He got the opportunity to worth with stars and artists like Boney M, Udo Lindenberg and Julio Oglesias. As time progressed, he produced singles from many of top European artists. His most recognizable work was with the rock band named “Phlox”.
Apart from being the record producer, Blakey was more interested in playing the drum as well. In early 1990s, he joined the band named “Tidal Force”. In their peak time, the band released a LP called “Will to Power”. He said the single Will to Power and A Man Rides Through were some of the biggest hits during that time.
However, besides his drumming skills, his name is known on the production scene. He served as Chief of A&R from 1991 to 1994. From 1994 to 2004, he launched three record companies of his own. His most recognized works in the musical area includes providing soundtrack for Disney’s Cinderella II: Dreams Come True. He also provided music for multiple films and TV shows including Jackass: The Movie and Shaft.
In 2009, Michael formed the Organica Media group which produces feature motion pictures and television content. He also opened Electra Star Management the same year. He is currently the top manager there and some of his clients includes big names like Billy Bob Thornton, Pamela Anderson and Brett Butle.
Regarding his personal life, he got married to Sasha Blakey in 2008.
