Born on April 26, 1997 in Berlin, Germany, Moritz got his experience at senior level playing for Berlin’s season team in the Regionalliga, the fourth-tier of German Basketball.
He played his college basketball for University of Michigan for Wolverines team. In 2017, he entered his name for 2017 NBA draft without hiring an agent but withdrew and returned to Michigan. He was then drafted 25th in the 2018 NBA draft by Los Angeles Lakers.
