Sidney Torres is an American Entrepreneur, Real Estate Developer and Television personality best known as the host of CNBC show “The Deed”.
Torres was born on August 27, 1975 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Alma Torres and Sidney D. Torres III. He was raised in a middle class family and his early life was depressed following his parents’ divorce. At the same time, he had dyslexia and was addicted to heroin at the young age of 14.
It was his grandmother Lena Torres who helped him to recover his life and told his parents “to do something with your son or he is going to die”. Luckily for him, his parents took advice and admitted him to boarding school. He then went to college but dropped out after just one month.
Sidney got his first job as a contractor. He was 20 years old and began to think his life as a real estate developer. To build his life more successful, he asked his grandmother for help and got $50,000 loan and made his first real estate investment. Within the next six or seven years, he was already a millionaire.
Torres is also known for his philanthropic activities. He helped the victim of hurricane Katrina by providing water for drinking and bathing as well as fuel to keep generators running for several days. He also became the popular “Guy who cleaned up New Orleans”.
Torres also appeared on CNBC’s series “The Deed” where he uses his finances knowledge to help struggling investors build their projects by investing in their development.
