His real name is Nick Simmons. Simmons was born on December 18, 1999 in Birmingham, Alabama. He was raised by his mother and grew up with his cousins who would persuade and influence him into criminal activities.
Simmons was studying in Clay-Chalkville High School but the instant rise he received through his single was so overwhelming and motivating for his hip-hop career that he decided to withdraw from the program. Since then he has gone to take online classes which he is falling behind on due to mixed schedule but he does intend to graduate.
One of his biggest interests as a young teenager was gaming. His eventual interest in music had actually started through gaming. When he was only 14 years old, he was gifted a Xbox 360 in Christmas which he fell in love with. When playing the Xbox 360, one of the games that he spent a lot of time with was Rock Band.
There he used to do freestyle raps inside his community of gamers. The positive response he received from them motivated him to keep on posting similar types of videos. For the most part of the day, he would be involved in such creations that would eventually lead to a following on YouTube once he entered the platform.
He then moved on to playing the new Grand Theft Auto 5 where he continued his freestyles. Later, he would established YBN(Young Boss Niggas). This would be his next step towards his journey forward in music. He established a strong network of wanna be rappers who were ambitious to make their dreams come true.
One of his earliest uploads was when he was only 15 years old with one of his YBN members. They worked on a song called “Hood Mentality” that was adored in his personal group but couldn’t make it to the public audience.
But, his main breakthrough came with the song called “Rubbin Off the Paint”. This song was a massive success even though it was made on a very tight budget. He actually started recording at home with a Blue Snowball mic and Mixcraft 8. 5, which was his biggest resource for the song.
The rapper has mentioned that there was no mainstream rapper in Birmingham to follow the footsteps of. That is why Nahmir was heavily influenced by San Francisco Bay area rappers including E-40 who’s tones do come in some of his work. As a kid growing up, he also listened to the songs of artists like Easy-E and Tupac.
He started the new year of 2018 with a new release called “Bounce Out With That” that has already got over 15 million views within a very short of time.
