The Krankies are a Scottish comedy duo comprised of wife Janette Tough and her husband Ian Krankie. As of 2019, The Krankies net worth is estimated to be around $5 million.
Janette was born on May 16, 1947, in Queenzieburn, North Lanarkshire, Scotland while Ian was born on March 26, 1947, in Glasgow, Scotland. They met in 1966 and got married three years later in 1969.
The duo started their career as comedians performing as various characters and working the comedy circuit. Their profile got raised after they were given a spot on the Royal Variety Performance in 1978. In 1980s, they were given several television shows like Crackerjack, The Krankies Klub, The Joke Machine, The Krankies Elektronic Komik, and K.T.V.
The pair has also released a series of pop singles and albums. Their hit single “Fan-Dabi-Dozi” peaked at number 46 in the UK singles chart in February 1981 while their next song ‘Wee Jimmy Krankie’ was also a massive hit.
Janette and Ian have made recurring appearances in various series of ‘French & Saunders’. Janette has also appeared in a season 4 episode of ‘Murder Most Horrid’ in 1999. In 2000, Janette starred as a bag lady alongside Julie Walters in Christmas special of the Victoria Wood BBC series’ Dinnerlands’. In 2008, they were seen in an advertising campaign for STV Bingo while a month later they appeared as a guest on ‘The Paul O’Grady Show’.
