Miles Parks McCollum, who is better known as Lil Yachty, is an American rapper who is best known for producing hit singles like “One Night”. He started out by releasing his debut mixtape called Lil Boat and has gone on to release his debut studio album called Teenage Emotions in 2017.

Early Life

Yachty was born on August 23, 1997, in Mableton, Georgia. Yachty has been passionate about fashion and music his entire life. He initially attended Alabama State University but later dropped out within months as he realized that hip-hop was going to be his future career. He then went to New York City to launch his career.

Career

One of the earliest hits that Yachty was the success of the comedy song called “One Night”. This became a viral hit on Soundcloud racking up millions of plays over time. He built his Instagram following up at first and then started releasing his songs which meant that he had an edge when it comes to getting attention to his songs. Such a strategy would be a very big success and he even went on to model Kanye West’s Yeezy’s fashion line in Madison Square Garden.

He then went on to collaborate with the rapper DRAM for a song called “Broccoli” which managed to get to number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Soon a feature with Chance the Rapper happened which added to the brand that Yachty was personally being able to build. Looking at the large amount of audience that he was able to gather, he soon caught the eyes of many record labels and went on to eventually sign a joint venture record deal with Quality Control Music, Capitol Records, and Motown Records.

He then went on to release his second mixtape called Summer Songs 2 that became a bigger hit. However, his biggest project has been putting together his debut studio album called Teenage Emotions that had some really big names including Migos, Diplo, Grace, and Stefflon Don. The album included some hits like the singles “Harley” and “Bring It Back”.

Most recently, Lil Yachty released his second studio album called Lil Boat 2 on March 9. His music has been described as very catchy which is definitely the reason why so many of his songs have gone viral and have really engaged the new generation of hip hop listeners.

He has mentioned that he loved colors from a very young age. He used to wear colorful clothes as well as colorful hair whereas his older brother was busy selling drugs. He even mentions that his brother was embarrassed by him.

He has also had some trouble with the law when his fame was still growing. He and a close friend were once arrested in Palm Beach Gardens for credit card fraud for which he was eventually fined $11,000.
